Standing Rock medic/healer donation

Hi friends and family! 

I am raising money for a large donation to the Standing Rock Medic and Healer council, the main organizer for all wellness services providing medical care and support to the water protectors protesting the Dakota Access pipeline construction in Cannon Ball, North Dakota.

I will be going to the Standing Rock reservation in December to volunteer as a registered nurse, as well as to directly support all First Nations people there in the goal of halting construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. 

As part of this trip, I am raising funds to buy urgently needed medical equipment, as well as to contribute monetarily in the effort to winterize the camps.

No part of this gofundme campaign will go towards my travel expenses (which I will fund 100% seperately from any donations I receive). Instead this is a way to tap into my social network community to assist in the purchase of urgently needed medical equipment, and contribute financially to the movement to stop the pipeline.

I am hoping to raise $2500 in roughly a month (fingers crossed). 

I was attracted to this protest for several reasons, but mostly because I believe there's logical connection between what I do - public health - and what the protestors are trying to achieve: water security and self-determination for the people of Standing Rock reservation. While the pipeline is a direct threat to the water supply of the Standing Rock reservation, the disregard for environmental impacts and the reliance on fracking to achieve U.S. energy "independence," is a significant issue that affects all people.
