My name is Audra Doner, I am the sister-in-law to Matt and the aunt to sweet Grace.

On Saturday, our world was turned upside down when Grace was involved in a horrific automobile accident. In a single moment, everything changed. As soon as he heard the news, Grace's dad Matt-who is currently overseas for work- has been desperately trying to get home to his family and, most importantly to be with his little girl.

As many of you know, Matt just retired from the military after serving 30 years and 3 months of dedicated service. Matt was the sole provider for his family, and after retiring he went to his next career leading him to work with a contractor overseas. He had barley been gone when this unimaginable tragedy occurred.

If you know Matt, you know the kind man he is. He would do anything for his family. He is kind, funny, loving and the most caring person you could ever meet. His love for his family, BBQ, snakes and this country runs deep and true.

On Monday, January 2nd he was supposed to board a flight home to wrap his arms around his family and be by Grace's side. The weight of everything he was facing. The fear, the stress and the heartbreak became overwhelming. I can't imagine what he was enduring in those moments.

Matt never made that flight. Early that morning he passed away from a heart attack. Instead of being reunited with his family, his life was tragically taken, and our family was left shattered. This is why we are here today- asking for help during the most imaginable time.

Grace is still in the hospital, bravely fighting for her life. This family is facing profound loss, uncertainty, and heartbreak, and they need support now more than ever.
