Stand with Wesley UMC: Repair and Rebuild

Hi, I'm a community member who has been invited to use the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1385 Oakway Rd, Eugene, OR 97401, for a variety of purposes to promote racial justice and build a more inclusive community. Although I do not share the Christian faith, I do share the deeply held values with this church like uplifting community and radical welcoming. Wesley UMC allowed our anti-racism group to use their space at a deeply discounted cost for our learning and action gatherings.

Wesley UMC was targeted for vandalism overnight on March 31, 2025. The vandalism was clearly meant to maximize harm, with thousands of dollars of damage to the building and musical instruments, and human waste found in the sanctuary. No culprit has been identified yet.

When institutions that show up for our values every day are attacked, rather than seeking retribution, we can demonstrate our love and support publicly and help rebuild and restore it to be even stronger than before. Donations will go to the church to help with repair costs and cleaning, and any extra will be for the church to use as they see fit. We know they will continue to support welcoming and inclusion in our community and serve the neighborhood and larger Eugene community.
