Hi, my name is Nikki, I'm Miranda's best friend and Jace's favorite gal pal!! Miranda & Jace welcomed their baby, Tobias (Toby) Rodney Ray into the world on November 29th, 2024 after 62 hours of excruciating labor and ending in an emergency C-Section. Toby is their miracle baby. When he was delivered, he was not alive. The Pediatric Dr & several Pediatric nurses began life saving measures and worked on Toby for over 33 minutes before letting Miranda & her Mom know what was going on. The Dr then let Toby's Grandma come and take a picture of him to show to Miranda. Throughout that entire time, Miranda was so calm and kept saying that Toby is ok and that God wouldn't take her baby. During those 33 heart wrenching minutes, Toby was resuscitated, intubated, given epinephrine, blood & other life saving measures. Toby was stable enough after an hour to transport him to the NICU. To protect Toby's brain from damage/further damage due to oxygen deprivation during delivery they cooled (Therapeutic Hypothermia) Toby's body to 92°F. After 72 hours of a body temperature of 92°F, they will slowly start rewarming Toby's body over a period of 6 hours. They did an ultrasound of Toby's brain and there were no bleeds or anything else they could see. Toby has been continuously monitored for seizures, daily lab work, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate & breaths per minute. We thank God that Toby's blood work & stats are normal, and there have been no seizures! Thank God! Miranda, Jace & Toby have a lot of unknowns ahead of them. With Jace being the sole provider, I am asking for help to supplement his lost wages during this critical time. It is so important to have both Jace & Miranda by Toby's side. Even if you're unable to donate, please share this post. Please keep this beautiful family in your thoughts and prayers. They trust in the Lord and know that God is good. Thank you.
Update:
Toby is a strong little boy!! He has gone through so much since he was born. Toby was rewarmed to 97.7°F yesterday and stayed on the warming pad for 24 hours. Toby's temperature is now 98.7°F!! Toby only has a feeding tube in his nose and a central line in his belly button. Toby has an MRI on his brain tomorrow to show if there is any brain damage. Please continue to pray for little Toby, Miranda & Jace. Thank you to everyone for all the prayers, kind words, and donations. I know how much you all are appreciated! God is good!
Update: 12-5-24
Toby had an MRI on his brain this morning, they didn't find any indication of brain damage. They did discover two pin point spots on his brain they think may be blood, but they aren't 100% sure. Toby also had a very busy early afternoon. He had x-rays, ultrasound, 2 separate blood draws, central line removed, and an IV placed in his scalp. Tonight or tomorrow, they will place a picc line in him. Toby's x-rays showed and the ultrasound confirmed that Toby's liver is enlarged. The Dr's at Essentia and the Dr's at the University of Minnesota agree the best course of action is to transfer Toby down to the U of M. Toby will be transferred tomorrow. Miranda, Jace, Miranda's Mom & Dan will be going with Toby. We are all so thankful and praise God that Toby's MRI results are good and that Toby is such a strong & brave little boy! Please, continue to pray, share and donate if you can. We are all so thankful for all of you!! God is good
