Stand with Swarr Family in Their Time of Need

We are Gale and Russ Guthrie and retired to Orlando, Florida 2 years ago from the Lancaster area. This gofundme is for the “Karen, Alex & Charlie Swarr Family” of Columbia, PA. Our relationship with the family goes back 20 years while attending Manor Church in Mountville, PA.

The two boys were adopted, one from an orphanage in Russia. The other through foster care in Lancaster, PA. Both with a history of neglect and abuse. One son is on the autism spectrum, other son struggles with anxiety/panic disorder due to trauma related disorder and PTSD. Karen the mother lost her husband in a tragic death in 2015 leaving a void in the boy’s life as well.

Both boys are now young adults, still living at home because of different circumstances. One works but is hard to be out on his “own”. The other son struggles with mental health and has worked, but hard to keep a job because of his mental health. Karen, the mom works full-time outside the home and then comes home to advocate and be their support system.

One son wanted to try to better himself and went to a state vocational school in Johnstown, PA. It was a struggle for him as his support system was not close by. Things went from bad to worse was hospitalized and police were involved. So legal fees are now involved also.

A week ago the family car was totaled on “Turkey Hill Curve”. Bruises and a mild concussion were the result.

We want to help "Cultivate Some Kindness" for the family. This is a "never dreamed, never achieved" work of love for Gale and me. All donated money will go directly to the Family's "GOFUNDME" account. Please help, help and help in any way you can. The money will be used for legal fees ? ($9,000) and for a new “used” car ( I’m thinking $4,000 to $6,000) for the family. We need around $15,000 to get the family back on their feet. Karen and Keith rescued these two boys through adoption. So let's help the orphans and widow out of this storm.
