My name is Joe Lurie and I met my future wife Sherry in Black Mountain, NC at a special music festival called LEAF. Many years later I married her in Black Mountain at the Bush Farmhouse (which was just inundated with 4 feet of water) and we bought a place close by in Swannanoa, NC which became extremely special to us as I fought and healed from my battle with cancer on beautiful Swannanoa Mountain. These areas have been devasted by flooding from Hurricane Helene as the calm Swannanoa River rose up from 3 feet to 26 feet matching levels not seen since 1791 and barreled downstream causing massive destruction. I am raising money to funnel to the people of this region as they try to recover from this horrible tragedy. I promise to funnel any funds I receive to charitable organizations helping the people of Swannanoa and surrounding areas or to put needed supplies and cash in their hands directly once I can get down there without getting in the way of the recovery efforts.
