I am Sue Stafford.

I wanted to share my journey in my fight against Kidney Cancer that I began in September of 2024. Support and come along with me as I walk this Journey with Christ (Psalm c100 v4-5)

I have been a member of my church, Christ Fellowship, serving in various areas of ministry for more than 25 years, and I often participate in community outreach in general and with my employer.

I have lived in Texas most of my life, raising four children, of which my youngest son and his family live with me in the Houston area.

About a year ago, I started having some pain and experiencing kidney stones. After several months, when symptoms continued, I went to a doctor who ordered a scan, which determined I had a large mass on my left kidney.

I was sent to see a urologist, and in September of this year, I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and would require that my left kidney and all of the associated tissue and lymph nodes around it would have to be removed.

Surgery is set for December 10th.

Because of the extent of surgery and time required for recovery, this would leave me out of work for 2 to 3 months, as long as there are no complications.

Although my son lives with me with his wife and three children, I am the primary financial contributor for the household. Being out of work for 2 to 3 months with minimal short-term disability income will be financially devastating for my family.

I have already utilized all my savings and other resources on insurance co-pays and deductibles, just to get to the point where we can attempt the surgery with the associated costs of the procedure and all aftercare.

I have always wanted to be a giver in situations like this. Now, I'm trusting God to provide as I walk into the next steps that must be taken, by touching hearts of those who hear this story.
