- My name is Rhonda Brudi Barzey. I need help paying my mother's legal fees for theft, fraud, abuse, neglect, and extreme waste of her assets. My daughter and I became guardians of my mother on May 23, 2024. Upon getting all her financials, I was able to see where her partner transferred money to other accounts that were not my mother's. Thirty days prior to her wandering, her partner put himself on her bank account to be paid upon death. That leads me to April 17; she was brought to Lee Health Park via ambulance. She was found wandering again out in the street for 4 hours until she was laying on the ground due to exhaustion. This would be the first time the hospital contacted me. They were told by her partner he was her HUSBAND over and over. He told them they were married. In the hospital records, they say the husband denied memory care over and over, told the hospital that her family doesn’t care, and you don’t have to call them. I’m her husband. After getting to the hospital, I found out there were other admittances, and this one DCF of Florida was not allowing my mother to go back to her partner's residency where she was residing off and on for a few years. So, I took her back to PA with me.
- There were many red flags during the last couple of years. The partner would not accept help and started getting very distant and combative, refusing a nurse to come home to help with my mother's care. As I’m learning, you do not let your loved one with dementia control their own safety or finances. They truly are not safe. I let my mother live her life with her partner, thinking the partner would never hurt the one he said he loved so much. But he did. Medical neglect, abuse, and waste of funds. Holding my mother's ID, insurance cards, purse, clothing, storage unit, and all financial information. I went back down to press charges and recoup her physical property and pay attorney's fees for civil damages. That was in July 2024. This partner went as far as calling me and texting me to come get my mother's belongings. It’s always a fight. This partner gave me $99,000 in bad cashier's checks in July. He called, said he had some of my mother's money, and I went over with the police. The cashier's checks were no good. This person wastes time and money playing games. He must be stopped. We have so far spent close to $20,000 in travel, medical, and attorney's fees to try to recoup her property. He had told me in July also he would make me spend every cent I have, and it’s happening. I’ve now moved to Florida to launch the abuse and exploitation of her funds. She has to be physically in Florida. I kept her a Florida resident, so we are back to go full force on this case. Her family heirlooms, her clothing, and over $200,000 cash withdrawn from her bank account were taken.
- I never ask for help, but this time I have to. My beautiful shop in Lancaster pa is up for sale, and I’m trying to pay for everything she needs to get done with attorneys. Abuse people made contact with my mother on Christmas Eve here in Florida. They took the report and said this is a classic case of exploitation. Some of her abuse was absolutely no health care, no glasses, damaged teeth, and bugs in her pupils. We got all of that taken care of. It’s been a hard and long 7 months. Every day we find out something else this man has caused: mental, physical, and financial exhaustion to me and my family.

What about if you worked a full time job being a care taker to your loved one and didn’t have the money for down payment to a lawyer ? People get away with this all the time it has to stop !!!!!
