Stand with Residents: No Wind Turbines in Capon Springs

An urgent matter at hand is a plan to put wind turbines on Spring Mountain, just above Capon Springs. We are raising funds to help residents speak out publicly to advocate against this project.

Our goal is constantly evolving, and the efforts we need to make will change depending on the actions required to oppose this project. The funds we raise will be dedicated solely to advocacy for stopping this project from invading and harming our community. This may include:

-Purchase yard signage for residents

-Print and distribute fliers

-Community outreach and other campaign marketing efforts

-Zoning appeals and other public notice fees

Any funds not used will be donated to the Capon Springs Volunteer Fire & Rescue. We will show all our expenditures to anyone interested.

A note about the project:

We just heard about this ourselves in the last few days, and it is the first time we have considered tackling an issue like this, so we are still determining where to start. We oppose this effort, but we are open to hearing the voices of those in support and to hear how it may benefit the community. Otherwise, if you are also opposed, we encourage you to stay engaged, speak up, and not ignore this and let it happen. We know it is private land, and owners should be able to do what they want as long as they don't violate the law, but a change like this would have incredible consequences for all in the area. Changes like this, even on private land, are not solely private matters; the community and public must have a voice. No matter your stance on the issue, we will help network those who know the details so we can share and provide any relevant information on this project or anything else that may matter to us and our community.
