We are the Gender Affirming Care Workers Alliance (GACWA), and we've been organizing at Real You Electrolysis (RYE) with the International Workers of the World (IWW) for a few months now. Originally, this fund began as mutual aid while we took action against unreliable pay after numerous paychecks bounced due to insufficient funds (NSF); now, this mutual aid is needed to stabilize workers following the sudden closure of RYE.

Funds from this mutual aid will be used to assist in meeting workers’ needs as we all find our footing. Should there be an extreme excess in funds, we want to put money towards training programs for workers and purchasing equipment to resume providing care here in the community. Our long term goal is building a cooperative gender-affirming care clinic that gives every worker and patient a voice at the table.
