A REQUEST FOR HELP:

Our sister and daughter, Rachel McClure Cook, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Rachel must hire more employees while she undergoes treatment for this disease. She has started bi-weekly chemotherapy and will receive treatments for the next five months. After that, she’ll have surgery and radiation.

The reason we’re writing this is two-fold. One, we wanted to spread the word. Rachel is loved by so many and has touched many lives throughout the years, and we wanted to make sure people knew and could pray for her, if you’re so inclined. The second reason is to ask for your help.

Rachel’s oncologist has made it clear that she’ll be unable to have contact with children while she’s undergoing chemotherapy, due to the treatments weakening her immune system. It’s imperative that she stay isolated from kids for five months. The problem? Rachel owns a daycare! This is her sole means of income. She’s owned and operated My Best Friends Childcare in Firth, Idaho for over 25 years, lovingly helping countless families.

In order for her to continue to provide this service, Rachel needs to replace herself in the business; therefore, she must hire several more employees and increase her workforce to run the daycare while she isolates. The costs of this are high, so we are asking for donations to help her cover this unexpected expense. Please consider donating to this worthy cause, especially if you are one of the more than one hundred families who have benefited from Rachel’s care over the years.

Rachel has health insurance which will hopefully cover a good portion of her medical expenses. We are asking for funds to go towards her business expenses, and any remaining funds would help finance the medical expenses she will continue to incur.

Rachel is one of the strongest people we know. She lost her beloved husband, Adrian, to cancer when she was twenty-six years old, necessitating her to raise and support their two sons on her own. She’s a fighter! Her grit and faith help her live life with joy and laughter. We love her so much and know she can get through this. We ask for your help to make these burdens a little easier to manage by providing money to fund a large increase in workforce for the daycare during this time.
