Stand With Production has been a humbling experience for so many of us. At last, we have been able to come together in a meaningful way, and progress has been made. There are exciting developments that we will be sharing with you all soon. We have also been hearing from many of you that our concerns are being heard and acknowledged. Many companies have raised rates for production, some have agreed to pay overtime and there is dialogue happening about all the issues that have been raised. Production companies have at long last acknowledged the disconnect between client expectations and the realities of what the production must do to make those expectations achievable.
While progress has been made, we cannot stop short of full success. There are many of us working behind the scenes for the advancement of the interests of our community. The reason we have failed in our past efforts to make these changes is that we all become too overwhelmed by the monumental tasks it takes to make enact these kinds of systemic changes. We all work fulltime and have family obligations. For true change to happen we MUST stay the course. This time is different; we have been using some of our initial fundraising to pay some key people to take the time to keep our mission moving toward success. There is a huge amount of organizing and outreach that needs to happen to connect us all in a meaningful way.
To keep this momentum going we are coming back to you to raise additional funds. We need to pay a few key people on our team. This will allow them to stay committed and work full time right now to devoting themselves to this endeavor. Our goal has always been the same, and we are finally seeing a path to success in making a better working culture a reality.
For decades the Commercial Production teams have been struggling for parity with all our freelance colleagues and this goal is at long last on the verge of a breakthrough.
