Stand with Mom: Healing After ICE Ordeal
My mom has been selling tamales by Lowe’s on Paxton for over 10 years, working hard to live the American dream and support our family. But on June 19th, ICE showed up without a warrant, forcibly trying to deport her even though she was fully cooperating. In the chaos, they threw her to the ground with such force that she lost consciousness. A nurse who tried to check on her was pushed away.
Thanks to the kindness of bystanders who called an ambulance, she got the urgent medical attention she needed. She is now in the hospital, preparing for heart surgery to check for blockages caused by the trauma and stress from this terrifying experience.
This has been a heartbreaking and painful ordeal, but she asks only for your prayers and encouragement. Her message is clear: Even when you’re working hard, playing by the rules, and trying to build a better life, the fight to live safely and freely in this country never ends.
Please keep her in your thoughts, stay safe, and share her story so others know the harsh reality many face in pursuit of the American dream.
Thank you.
