In the Metro Atlanta community, we are truly blessed to know and work alongside Melinda Redmond, a devoted Exceptional Education educator, leader, trusted friend, colleague, mentor, member of the NAACP, and proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Melinda’s kindness, leadership, and unwavering commitment have touched the lives of countless students, families, and fellow educators. Every day, she advocates for children with exceptional needs, ensuring they receive the compassion, dignity, and opportunities they deserve.

Now, it’s our turn to lift her up.

During the week of October 27th, Hurricane Melissa swept through Jamaica, leaving behind heartbreaking devastation that forever changed her family’s life. Melinda and her family are from Mandeville, Jamaica, and the storm damaged some homes and destroyed others, along with many essential belongings.

Though her heart is heavy, Ms. Redmond continues to show up for students and staff each day, balancing her responsibilities in Atlanta while coordinating help and hope for her family back home. Her quiet strength and resilience reflect the spirit she is known for: service, love, and faith.

The road to recovery will be long. This GoFundMe was created so we can surround Melinda with the same care and community she so freely gives to others. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping her family rebuild: providing food, clothing, and essential items as they begin the journey to restore what was lost.
