Stand with Mark Cavallaro's Journey to Heal

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Brandon Cavallaro, and I am setting up this GoFundMe for my dad, Mark Cavallaro. Here is a little backstory. Twelve years ago, my dad was in an explosion accident and burned over 50% of his body. Six months after his accident, he was forced to go back to work due to being denied disability. He's gone through multiple surgeries and is suffering from multiple other health issues like cardiomyopathy, chronic heart failure, hypertension, COPD, emphysema, cardio angina, and many other medical issues that some are hereditary but they laid dormant. after his accident all these conditions started to escalate. To this day continues to be in excruciating pain from the Burns because he did not heal right from having to go back to work so quick and has relied on pain meds every day to function and provide for his family.

Recently, over the past month, the doctor had to change his pain meds because the insurance company wouldn't cover his pain meds anymore. During the med change, the doctor never weaned him off his original pain meds that he has been on for the past 12 years which was extremely heavy duty narcotic that wasn't opioid and morphine mixture. They started him the next day on another pain med. Since the doctors did not read his chart correctly or check to see if the new medication would interact with his other medication he takes things went from bad to worse. This has caused a serious downfall in his health condition. He now has constant muscle and body tremors that mimic seizures where his eyes roll back into his head and he cannot stop shaking, he cannot walk without assistance because his legs cannot hold him up anymore, his speech is impeded, he has a constant headache and he hears loud horns in his head which is called thunder clapping which pretty much vibrates the whole inside of his head and makes his headaches even worse, he is extremely dizzy and has double vision, so his entire body hurts and aches from trying to hold the shaking in. The medicine they put him on was oxycontin which although has the same amount of opioids as his other pain med it lacked the morphine and some other ingredients therefore he immediately went through withdrawal symptoms and overdose symptoms since both medications were Time released and it reacted with one of his other medications and gave him serotonin toxicity which in itself is deadly. The doctor then put him on morphine and has been adjusting the dosages to try to help him but during all this his body has not gotten used to any of the pain meds therefore he is in excruciating pain from his burn like they just happened and a pain in his right shoulder that he thought was nothing could possibly be a torn rotator cuff is also giving him serious pain. all this is causing him to not get any sleep at night to wear the entire month of February he got a total of 7 hours of sleep and it was not even a deep sleep it was more of those off type of sleep. He he cannot any longer lay on his right side which is what he did because of his burns on his left side because of his rotator cuff and if he turns onto his left side to try to sleep the burns hurt extremely bad and if he tries to lay in his back he stops breathing. To make matters worse he cannot watch TV because of the double vision and the headaches and the shaking he can't play games on his phone he can't do anything so all day long all he does is laying in the room by himself in the dark listening to music softly and trying to fall asleep. Since the accident caused him to have PTSD which was somewhat under control before the med change now any sound even a small one sets him off into an anxiety attack because all sounds are amplified. If if you ask him what is the worst part about all this he would say that is that he cannot spend any time with his family or his animals and that he's very depressed I've never seen my dad cry but unfortunately I've seen him cry now because he feels like he is nothing to us anymore which is not true.

My dad is a fighter and has never given up on his family even after his burn accident. Currently, my dad can't work, and neither can my mom because she has to stay home and take care of him. With my dad's current health status getting worse and our financial worries stressing him out so much it's causing his symptoms too become worse than they already are, and it has taken a toll on our family. It is hard to explain what he is going through and what the rest of us are going through including myself I have been so depressed and I worry that if I go to work something's going to happen to him while I'm gone therefore I am missing work as well and I need to be here to help my mom because she has my other brother to take care of Plus everything else that her my father used to team up on she is doing it by herself so I have been missing work to help her out and to be with my father. Like I mentioned before my father is a fighter and he will never give up on his family but he's getting very tired from not sleeping and from stress that is getting hard for him to fight.

I kindly ask you to find it in your heart to take one of the stresses off of my family during this difficult time by, making a donation and if you can't make a donation at this time can you at least say a prayer for my dad.

All the help is appreciated, and God bless all of you

Also the video on this post is the way he still is going on almost 2 months we do have other videos but they are too bad to show this one is actually a better of all of them.
