For nearly two years since the group's debut, HYBE and Geffen Records have demonstrated a pattern of negligence and mismanagement. After introducing the members through a competitive survival program, they released the docuseries Popstar Academy. The series emphasized negative portrayals of several members, with particularly intense focus on two of the three Black contestants, especially Manon. It included footage of contestants and Geffen staff expressing visible disdain toward her, which has continued to affect her public image. The release further fueled comparisons between members and framed past misunderstandings as ongoing conflict. Manon was portrayed as lazy, selfish, and unreliable, narratives that contributed to widespread racist and anti-black harassment. Despite this, similar descriptors were later included as selectable responses to the question "What does Manon think is her best feature" in the 2026 Season's

Eyekons are raising funds to rent billboards and other media outlets to bring light to the mistreatment of Manon of KATSEYE. Manon has been on the receiving end of mistreatment and hate from her label, members of their team, antis, and even so-called "eyekons." We are organizing to let Hybe & Geffen know that we will not tolerate the mistreatment of any member and that KATSEYE IS SIX!!
