On July 15, 2025, Mahdi Khanbabazadeh—a devoted father, loving husband, and trusted healthcare provider in Beaverton, Oregon—was unjustly detained by masked ICE agents while dropping off his 2-year-old son at daycare. His little boy was filled with confusion and fear, unable to grasp what was happening—something even adults still struggle to understand.
Mahdi is one of the kindest, most hardworking people I know. He’s married to a U.S. citizen and is the father of a U.S.-born child. His immigration process was already well underway—he had even completed his green card interview months ago. He followed every legal step. And yet, despite doing everything right, he was taken—in the most terrifying and heartbreaking way.
The past few weeks have been devastating. The emotional toll, especially on Mahdi’s young son, has been unimaginable. And now, the family faces a long, uncertain, and expensive legal journey to bring Mahdi home for good—and ensure he can stay with his wife and child, in the community he loves and serves.
We’re launching this fundraiser to support Mahdi and his family through the legal, emotional, and financial aftermath of this traumatic event. Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
• Immigration and legal defense
• Lost income during detention
• Childcare and support for his son
• Trauma counseling and mental health care
• Ongoing housing, medical, and family needs
This isn’t just about one man—it’s about justice, compassion, and keeping families together. Mahdi should never have been taken.
No parent, no child, no family should have to go through something like this.
Please donate what you can and share this page widely.
Let’s stand together and make sure Mahdi knows: he is not alone.
