Stand with Lucas: Secure His Educational Rights

We are a family of four. My husband and I are pastors at a church in Vancouver, WA. Both our children are adopted. Our daughter, Noelle, is 5 and spunky. Our son, Lucas, is 11. He is on the autism spectrum and is a joy!

We moved to Washington last year where he started 5th grade. It was an incredibly difficult year for him as his teacher didn't follow his iep and was quite cruel to him, and the school overall failed him in being fully inclusive. We had to fight till the last day of school. Because of the school's failures Lucas did not get all of the educational hours he was supposed to receive, putting him behind his same age peers. In order to try get to get compensatory educational hours as well as a solid IEP with accountability measures written in, we have had to consult with a lawyer and a paid advocate. To get their assistance we need to pay a retainer of $3,000. We are trying to raise the money to pay this retainer so we can get Lucas ready for 6th grade before the fall. Thank you
