Stand with Leilani Staff: Job Loss Aid

My name is Angela, and I used to be a server at Leilani Asian Fusion restaurant in Downtown Aurora, Illinois.

Leilani operated under the values of love, loyalty, and legacy—all of which were woven seamlessly throughout the food and atmosphere created by owners Abbey, Clark, and Garnett. It was a joy to come to work every day and serve food I was proud of, with a team that very quickly became family.

Due to a decision made by investors, Leilani Asian Fusion closed their doors abruptly and unexpectedly, leaving dozens of employees without jobs with just a day’s notice.

I am humbly asking for the community to support those of us who now find ourselves without income. Every member of the Leilani team worked tirelessly to prepare, cook, and serve the amazing food that Aurora has adored since our soft opening a year ago.

It was an absolute honor to work with and for these folks, and I know this isn’t the end of the Leilani story.

All of the funds raised will be dispersed amongst the staff members that were affected by the sudden closure. Once the final goal of $10,000 is reached - ultimately the funds will be distributed evenly amongst the staff. The funds raised as of 8/14 have been distributed fully to a third of the staff already. These funds were given to folks whose basic needs and ability to gain new employment were most at risk.
