If you know my daughter Kassandra, you know her world revolves around her little girl, Lela. Kassandra has been Lela’s sole provider, ensuring she has not only the basics of food, clothing, and a safe home, but also opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive.

She works hard to give Lela the childhood she deserves, from keeping her involved in activities like karate and aerial silks, to traveling across South Carolina and North Carolina for karate tournaments, all on her own dime.

Kassandra purchased a beautiful home to give Lela stability and security. That stability has paid off and Lela has flourished both emotionally and academically, even skipping a grade this year due to her advanced progress.

Unfortunately, Kassandra is now facing a legal battle to protect that stability. Her ex is attempting to gain joint custody and decision-making power despite not having been consistently present or supportive in Lela’s life. From everything I’ve seen, her past behavior and the court’s rulings indicate that she has faced serious challenges in meeting the requirements to keep visitation. While she says she is now clean, I personally believe she has convinced some people to give her money for her own legal fight to regain custody and visitation. In my opinion, she has shifted nearly all responsibility onto Kassandra rather than acknowledging her own role in how things got to this point. To me, this battle appears less about Lela’s best interests and more about maintaining control, which I feel could jeopardize the safe, stable, and loving environment Kassandra has worked so hard to provide.

Legal fees are expensive, and Kassandra has been handling everything on her own. We are asking for help so she can secure the representation needed to protect Lela’s future.
