Help Support Jude and His Family Through His Continued Fight
I’m raising funds to support the family of one of the children at the PPEC where I work — a brave little boy named Jude.
Jude was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at just two years old. After an incredibly tough battle, he beat cancer — a victory that showed just how strong and resilient he truly is. However, Jude continues to face ongoing challenges due to OMAS (Opsoclonus-Myoclonus-Ataxia Syndrome), a rare autoimmune condition caused by his tumor. Even though this disorder has brought tough days and unexpected setbacks, nothing can stop Jude’s spirit or the light he brings to those around him.
Recently, while on steroids, we saw wonderful progress — our sweet, funny, and “extra-hyper” Juju was back! Unfortunately, just a day and a half after finishing the medication, his symptoms returned with full force. He’s been struggling with sudden outbursts, agitation, and aggression that seem to come out of nowhere. Sometimes he simply says, “I was just so mad,” without knowing why. These unpredictable mood changes have been difficult for both Jude and his loving family.
Over the weekend, Jude also began showing tremors in his arms, especially when tired. After close communication with his doctors, he’s now scheduled for Rituximab infusions the next two Mondays in Orlando. This treatment will help reset his immune system and hopefully stop the attacks on his body that cause his OMAS symptoms.
Earlier this year, Jude’s scans were thankfully stable — such great news at the time. The only small concern was a new lesion on his kidney that didn’t appear cancerous, so the doctors decided to monitor it. Due to this recent relapse, however, radiology has scheduled a kidney ultrasound to be safe. So this Monday will be a long day for Jude — an all-day infusion followed by his ultrasound. His dad will be right there by his side, as always.
This family is doing everything they can to stay strong and provide Jude with the care he needs. Mom is currently the only one working, while Dad stays home full-time to care for Jude and his siblings, take them to appointments, and manage the day-to-day challenges that come with this diagnosis. They are an incredibly loving and dedicated family, but right now, they’re stretched thin.
We’re doing all we can to help, but they could truly use additional support — whether that’s through donations to ease financial stress, help with food, or simply sharing Jude’s story and keeping them in your prayers. Every bit of kindness makes a difference and brings them one step closer to stability and healing.
Please consider helping this amazing family as they continue to fight for Jude’s health and happiness. Your support — in any form — means more than words can express. Thank you for standing with them and believing in Jude’s incredible strength.
