Stand with Jesus Ocampo Ramos and Family

This is Jesus Ocampo Ramos and he was detained by ICE today in Lewisville, TX. He holds a green card with permanent resident status. He is in Dallas waiting to be transferred to Alvarado.

This is what his wife, Rosie Kaster, was able to share with me:

“My husband's name is Jesus Ocampo Ramos. I have access to his accounts, of course. I typically don’t like to accept help, but I’m extremely concerned about the potential coming cost with legal fees, let alone our coming rent and utilities. My husband is our sole breadwinner. I stay home with our children, including a very medically fragile, medically dependent child. She’s living with a “terminal” condition. I have to be at her bedside a lot; she requires nursing 24-7. I spoke to a paralegal and she said that’s where they take them before they see a judge. We do a lot of the brick work in HOAs in our community. I kinda worry about people not wanting to hire him seeing he’s been detained. He is a very good, honest person who works very hard for his family. He provides for us, pays taxes, he contributes to our economy, and is not a threat in any way. He loves the United States and is proud to be here. He had a good childhood in Mexico and was more middle class. His parents are business owners in Mexico and also give to the community. He is honorable and sticks to his word. I stay up on current events and have talked to my friends about what to do in case they’re stopped or questioned by ICE. I just never thought it would be us.”

“It’s just really hard to see heartless people comment on something that they know nothing about.”

It is vital for us to leverage our privilege to advocate for those who are currently unable to speak out due to fear.
