Stand with Jernee’ Through Tough Times

Hi, my name is Jernee’ (pronounced Jer-Nae) Goods, and I’m 26 years old. Over the last year and a half, my life has been completely turned upside down.
In a short span of time, I lost both my father and my older brother — two of the most important people in my life. I had to plan both of their funerals while juggling school, work, and caregiving. What most people don’t know is that my brother was already disabled, and before his passing, I was his full-time caregiver as well as my mom.
Shortly after dad passed, my mother suffered a stroke, a brain bleed, and multiple seizures, which left her permanently disabled. I immediately stepped in to become her full-time caregiver for her as well as my older brother.
So at just 26, I’ve found myself working a full-time job, managing the emotional weight of losing two family members, and caring full-time for my disabled mother — all without a roadmap, a safety net, or meaningful support.
My mom, who spent her life as a stay-at-home parent, has no income, no retirement savings, and no insurance. We applied for disability nearly two years ago, but we're still stuck in limbo with no approval yet. In the meantime, the financial burden has fallen entirely on me.
Despite working full-time, my salary just doesn’t cover everything. I’m doing everything I can — cutting expenses, applying for additional jobs, reaching out to nonprofits — but I’m drowning in debt and running out of options. My credit cards are maxed out, and the cost of caring for my mom is far more than I can carry alone.
What was supposed to be a time to build my future npost-graduation, starting my career has become a constant struggle to stay above water. Caring for my mom is something I simply can’t do alone anymore.
This GoFundMe is a lifeline. If I can raise the support we need, I’ll be able to get critical repairs done on her home, relieve some of our monthly financial strain, and most importantly give my mom the dignity and care she deserves.
If you're able to contribute no matter the amount please know that every dollar helps. If you’re not in a position to donate, a simple share with your community, church, or social circle would mean the world. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can offer. I’m holding on with all I’ve got. I just need a little help.
With love and deep gratitude,
