Jeremiah Bunch
On Jan 6th, 2025 while at school Jeremiah lost his sight. He was immediately taken to the emergency room in Fayetteville, NC where the images showed a tumor on his brain. Jeremiah was transferred to UNC Chapel Hill that very day. Family gathered as UNC worked incredibly fast to help Jeremiah. Once the scans and tests were completed the family was told surgery for tumor removal would take place on Jan 8th, 2025. The surgeons were able to take most of the tumor but had to leave a portion due to its location (depth within the brain). The tumor was sent to pathology for a diagnosis. Jeremiah was diagnosed with Ganglioglioma with Mutation. The amazing staff at UNC Chapel Hill PICU cared for Jeremiah while they adjusted the pressures on his brain and completed another surgery during his stay to place a shunt on his brain. Chemotherapy will began soon to shrink the remaining portion of the tumor.
These beyond reason unforeseen circumstances have stretched this family’s faith and finances. But they know the ultimate healer, God is in control. A little bit about him and his family. Jeremiah is 11 yrs old and a twin. He is an amazing brother and son. He is a student at Rockfish Elementary School. Jeremiah has great parents and a wonderful bonus step dad! Prior to his diagnosis his parents were able to work and maintain their family’s monthly expenses. Now imagine the stress that is placed on a family knowing his needs. There has to be adjustments made to all expects of their daily lives. His mother is now staying home to aid in his recovery. Jeremiah has a long road ahead of him. While the doctors feel his sight cannot be regained, he believes this is part of his testimony. The family does not under estimate the power of miracles preformed by God. Jeremiah attends all his appointments in Chapel Hill with a parent. He will receive physical therapy to regain his motor skills and strength. A service dog is in Jeremiah’s future and he is eager to learn the world that is now new to him.
Please know that any and all help is received with loving gratitude. This financial hardship is a very heavy burden on the parents. Not being able to provide financially because they are working on his recovery and attending his appointments is no struggle a parent should face alone.
If Jeremiah’s story has reached you, please know we can make a difference. Any amount is beyond a blessing.
