Stand with Jamie Ortiz: Fight for her Family's Future

My name is Jamie Ortiz. My husband was targeted by Homeland Security Investigations on Monday, September 8th, 2025, while he was on his way to work. He had a valid work permit and a pending application for his papers through immigration. They followed him as he left the house at 5:50 a.m. He called me at 5:55 and said a white truck was pulling him over. I told him to pull over and I was on my way. He pulled over and was surrounded by four vehicles with multiple agents. They opened his door and forcefully removed him from the vehicle, slamming his head into the concrete, then pushed the back of his head with their knees into the concrete more. They did not have an arrest warrant, nor were there charges filed in federal court. They took him to the Yakima jail and then went to the prosecuting attorney to ask for a warrant and charges to be filed. The prosecuting attorney declined to file charges and ordered him released from jail. While he was being released from jail, the same HSI agent was waiting inside the parking garage of the jail and re-arrested him. He is now in the Tacoma Northwest Detention Center where we are trying to fight for his case. We are seeking the community's help with legal fees and general costs for my family while we are fighting for his release. I have a chronic condition that does not allow me to be able to work a full-time job. My husband was the sole supporter of myself and my children.

Ahora se encuentra en el Centro de Detención Tacoma Northwest, donde luchamos por su caso. Yo tengo una enfermedad crónica que me impide trabajar mucho. Mi esposo era el único que nos sustentaba a mí y a mis hijos.
