Stand with Irma and Candido in Tough Times

Hi, I’m Gladis Palencia. My mother is Irma Ramirez and father Candido Palencia.

They’ve both lived in Santa Ana, El Salvador for the last 5 to 6 years. However, for nearly 20 years, they’ve lived here in Emporia, Kansas where I currently stay.

Despite any financial hardships my parents have always been there to support me, my brother Ricardo Palencia, and sister Karina Palencia through school and created a happy and safe space for us to grow.

Irma Ramirez worked at McDonald’s on the turnpike as a manager for many years. A lot of you may have known her as Carmen. Candido Palencia worked at Tyson for nearly 20 years. They contributed many joyful memories and honest hard work to this small community which they love and miss. I appreciate everything they’ve done for me and now it’s my turn to help them.

My mother is currently recovering from surgery with a surgical oncologist at a hospital in San Salvador to remove a 5.2 cm cancerous tumor in her right thyroid. For a while she won’t be able to speak to ensure she recovers well. Any warm messages are encouraged.

While she recovers, I want to provide a chance to give back to these two amazing people.

Whatever anyone is able to give is appreciated. Any bit helps my family so much!

If you can’t donate then all I ask is for prayers for a successful and smooth recovery for my mother and for healing for my father who is also facing the emotional and physical tolls of his own health issues.
