In the last few years, court interpreters, integral to the functioning of our justice system, have been victims of identity theft. There are multiple documented instances where unknown individuals have appeared in remote depositions, impersonating certified interpreters and showing fake badges. This fraudulent behavior is an affront not just to interpreters everywhere, but also to the integrity of court proceedings, professional credentialing processes, the stakes involved in litigation, and to companies that play by the rules.
Last year, the Association of Independent Judicial Interpreters of California (AIJIC) sued One Call Corporation, after tracing 15 cases of impersonation to them. We believe that there were more that went undetected. Click here to read the complaint: https://www.aijic.org/post/aijic-v-one-call
A year and a half later, litigation continues. We have a strong case, but One Call keeps denying wrongdoing and their attorneys recently filed a motion for summary judgment.
Please help us keep fighting One Call by contributing to our cause. Your support will be instrumental in getting our message across: that we will not allow this shameless practice to continue.
