Who are we and what are we raising funds for?
We are the Georgian-German Women's Alliance (GGWA), a newly founded Berlin-based initiative. On May 26, 2026—Georgia’s Independence Day—we are hosting a major public event at PANDA Platforma in Berlin: "Georgia as a Case Study: From Democracy to Authoritarian Rule." This event brings together experts, activists, and artists to examine Georgia’s democratic backsliding and share strategies for recognizing and resisting authoritarianism before it becomes irreversible.
Why is this cause important?
Georgia is at a critical juncture. Its democratic institutions are facing severe threats, and civil society is under unprecedented pressure. This event provides a vital, much-needed platform for Georgian experts, journalists, and artists to share their lived experiences, document the ongoing protests, and amplify the voices of those fighting for their European future.
How will the funds be used?
This event is entirely volunteer-led and grassroots. We have secured the venue and an incredible lineup of speakers, but we currently have no external budget. We need community support to make this happen.
Every donation will go directly toward:
Travel: Helping cover travel costs for crucial guest speakers.
Exhibition Materials: Printing high-quality photos for our protest archive exhibition.
Symbolic Honorariums: If our funding allows, we hope to provide a small symbolic honorarium to the independent visual artists and musicians contributing their time and talent to the event.
NGO Establishment: Any remaining funds saved from the event will go directly toward the legal and administrative expenses required to officially register our new organization (GGWA) as an NGO.
How will the beneficiary receive the funds?
All funds will be managed directly by the organizers (GGWA and MY GEORGIA Women e.V.) to immediately reimburse travel, pay for printing services, and support our official registration process.
Whether you can donate €5 or €50, your contribution helps us provide a platform for those standing up for democracy. If you cannot donate, please share this campaign and join us in Berlin on May 26th!
Thank you for standing with Georgian civil society.
