The healthcare system in Gaza is facing collapse due to the ongoing assault, severe shortages of medical supplies, and the destruction of vital infrastructure. Most of Gaza’s hospitals and clinics are either destroyed or only partially functioning, with a drastically reduced number of hospital beds and healthcare staff available to serve the population. Essential services such as emergency surgery, maternal and neonatal care, and treatment for chronic diseases are critically compromised. Humanitarian organisations report that access for medical supplies and personnel is frequently blocked, exacerbating a situation where preventable deaths and untreated illnesses are rampant. Pregnant women, children, and those with chronic conditions are especially vulnerable, and thousands require urgent medical evacuation that remains difficult to secure due to political and logistical barriers.

In response, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) are working tirelessly to deliver immediate medical aid, including vital supplies and equipment, to hospitals and clinics throughout Gaza. MAP also supports the training and development of local healthcare workers to help maintain some level of care despite the ongoing crisis. Additionally, MAP advocates internationally for the protection of healthcare infrastructure and staff, and for improved humanitarian access. Their work is vital in supporting the remaining healthcare system, please support them if you can.
