**Support Justice for Mario Gonzalez: A Mother's Plea**
Dear Friends and Supporters,
For three long years, you have stood by me as I have fought tirelessly for justice for my beloved son, Mario Gonzalez. Today, I reach out to you once again, as our battle has reached a critical moment. The district attorney is now pressing charges against those responsible for Mario's untimely death, and we have to constantly advocate within a system that was not created for us.
Our struggle to be heard within a system biased towards defending killer cops continues. As we navigate this challenging journey, the logistical and financial burdens on our family mount. We need funds to attend court hearings, coordinate with the prosecutor, and mobilize our community—efforts that are vital but come at a significant personal cost.
I face the ongoing challenge of arranging care for my special son during my absences. Our campaign also incurs expenses for essentials like printing T-shirts, signs, and covering transportation costs.
While there was a settlement in the civil case, it's crucial to understand two things:
1. No settlement can replace my son’s life or exonerate those responsible for his loss. Our quest is for justice, not merely compensation.
2. The bulk of the settlement (95%) has been allocated to Mario's son and a trust for his future, with the remainder barely covering legal fees and debts accrued over these three long years of advocacy.
Today, I am humbly asking for your continued support to sustain our fight. Your contributions will enable me to take unpaid leave from work, ensure my special son's care is not compromised, and devote myself fully to securing justice for Mario without the additional stress of financial constraints.
Please help us make a stand in court and keep informed of our actions by following us on Instagram @Justice4MarioGonzalez. Your involvement and contributions are more crucial than ever.
Together, we can continue this fight. Your generosity, prayers and presence can truly make a difference. Thank you for your unwavering support and solidarity.
With deepest gratitude and faith,
Edith
