Edgar’s story

On August 7th, near Maplecrest Park in Maplewood, NJ, two crew members of Obaldo’s Roofing were detained by ICE: Edgar (Obaldo's brother) and Miguel. Edgar is a devoted husband, a father of three children ages 16, 8, and 4, and someone who has spent the last 18 years building a life here through faith, hard work, and love for family. Edgar and the people around him have always shown up for their community, helping neighbors with roofing and home repairs and treating others with kindness. Now, Edgar’s family is facing an incredibly painful and uncertain time, and they need that same community to show up for them. Miguel has lived in the US since he was 14 and has no family here. He lives with Edgar's family, has worked for Obaldo since 2010 and also needs our support! All money raised will go to support these 2 men!

Because of Edgar’s detention, his wife has been left to care for their three children alone, without Edgar’s income, while also facing the overwhelming cost of fighting to bring him home. Funds raised will go directly toward urgent legal fees for an immigration attorney, bond costs if needed, and basic living expenses like rent, food, and care for the children while their mother manages on her own.
