Stand with Dan: Legal and Financial Aid Needed

Hello, I'm Robyn.

I've known Dan Mata for a long time.

Years ago when I was struggling with my own demons, Dan was a safe person. Always willing to offer up a dad joke, a pep talk, or a movie choice that would distract from the darkness at the time.

If you were hungry, he fed you. If you were scared, he helped you to feel safe. If you needed anything, he was there.

He is truly a rare human. Genuine, decent, and kind. I have a great deal of love for this man; he is a bonus grandpa to my kids.

Dan would help anyone who needed it. Even if they can't bring themselves to ask. He has this innate ability to see what someone is going through, and to try to lighten the burden.

Dan has been through so much in his life, and he has retained his humanity. He has a strong sense of justice, which is why when he comes across injustice, he stands against it.

Dan was hurt this last weekend in a physical altercation with someone who styled themselves a Neo Nazi punk. Unfortunately, he is now facing serious charges for defending himself. In order for him to have legal counsel, I am starting this fundraiser.

His wife, Jenny, is also facing charges.

Jenny has been their only income as Dan has not able to work due to his myriad of disabling conditions.

They had been struggling financially already and now this is adding to their burden. I would like to ease their stress as best I can.
