Stand with Cory in His Legal Battle

I'm trying to raise funds for my son to help pay his lawyer. Cory was raised by me with no father figure. He is a single father and shares custody with his daughters mother.

Cory very much wanted to be a father. He was there for his daughters birth and cut the umbilical cord. His daughter is very much a daddy's girl. They do everything together.

Cory's mental health spiraled after a family matter. He started using substances to cope. An old friend came around and asked Cory to hold something for him which led to Cory being charged last November. His daughter was home when the police came and was very traumatized.

Currently Cory is out on bail with an ankle monitor. While he was awaiting bail he missed a week of work, as he was incarcerated. He missed a further four weeks after that due to stress. He was not paid for this time.

Since then Cory has been clean and sober. He speaks with a therapist once a week (out of his own pocket), and attends substance meetings regularly. He is taking medication for his depression.

Cory has substantial financial responsibilities in regards to his daughter, and every dollar he makes goes to them and bills.

We are doing all we can to save money. I am close to retirement and am doing all I can to assist with his obligations and responsibilities to his daughter as well as chipping in with the lawyer fees.

We have payed the retainer. Cory is awaiting pretrial and then will go to court next year. So far we still owe the lawyer $28,000 for all work and appearances to date. This is not including trial and all work and appearances from now till then.

Unfortunately society teaches men to swallow their pride and not ask for help. This is why I am starting this for him. Cory is my only child. My health is declining. I can't see how my granddaughter and I could manage ( physically, mentally, emotionally and financially ), with Cory in jail and away from us.
