Stand with Christy

Dear friends,
For 12 long years our friend Christy lived in an abusive marriage. She and her five children were living in desperate circumstances when God finally provided a way out.
That was three years ago. Many people rallied around Christy at that time, helping her find a job to support her children (she had not worked since before marriage). Many people chipped in with gifts and donations to help her get settled in a small apartment, needing to buy furniture and pay a first and last months rent. Many people also tangibly helped her, with moving, encouraging texts, meals, and providing childcare for her children. It was a frightening time for Christy, but it was also a time when she felt surrounded and supported by many people.
Christy is a woman of great courage, faith, and tenacity. She is a dedicated mother of four boys and one little girl. Monday through Friday she wakes up early and heads to work as an office manager for a reading curriculum company. Her children go to daycare after school, or she rushes home to pick them up, only to cook dinner, clean, negotiate conflicts, discipline, help with homework and bathe them at the end of each long day. Though she and her ex are divorced, she has ZERO financial support from him. Unfortunately, she currently shares custody with him. Having to co-parent alongside her abuser has not been easy on her or her children. On July 11-12, she will have a final court hearing where she will learn if she can have primary physical custody of her children. This is the hope, and to that end we pray.
In the midst of the instability, one surprising gift that has brought Christy joy was being reunited with her high school boyfriend, Chris. In high school they were first loves. Now, so many years later, as God would have it, they are engaged. Her fiance lives in Colorado, and Christy's hope is that, at the court hearing, they will receive a ruling and be able to move to Colorado and blend their families.
Regardless of whether or not Christy moves to Colorado, her landlord is asking that she move out by August 1. In less than two short months, Christy needs to find somewhere new for their family to live.
These are anxious days. The thought of moving is overwhelming. If the judge does not rule in her favor, she will need to find a new place to live, and will need the money to make a first and last months rent. It is not easy finding an affordable, safe home that will rent to a single mother with five children. Nor is it easy to pack up a home and try to remake one elsewhere. Christy has been creative in trying to make ends meet, working late doing graphic design work to offset some of her legal expenses. She also lived with another single mother and her children (2 single moms living with 9 children) to split the cost of rent. She has received some assistance, but because she is working, that assistance is limited.
We would like to raise $6,000 to support Christy in this final month before her court date. We would like to help pay for her rent, utilities, groceries and supplies, gas, and moving costs. The remainder would be used to cover legal expenses.
Because of the sensitivity of her court hearing, and because of the hostility of her ex, we would ask that you NOT share this Go Fund Me link on social media. Please email the link to friends, or text it to friends. We do not want it shared on any social media where others might use it against her. ANY gift amount would help.
This is an opportunity to support a hard-working single mother of five children, an abuse survivor, and an all around amazing person who loves Jesus.
And PLEASE be praying for the July 11-12 hearing, that the judge would rule in her favor.
Thank you for any help you can offer.
