Stand with Casey: A Mount Airy Hero in Need

Stand with Casey – A Mount Airy Hero Needs Our Help If you've ever been to the Mount Airy laundromat, then you know Casey. She’s that familiar, warm presence who greets you with a smile, asks how you're doing, and makes even the most ordinary day a little brighter. She’s a tireless volunteer, a caretaker at heart, and someone who truly cares about the well-being of others. Right now, Casey is fighting one of the hardest battles of her life — and she needs our support. Casey has overcome more than most of us could imagine. From losing her bladder at a young age due to disease, to enduring full intestinal failure that required a life-saving intestinal transplant, her strength has been nothing short of extraordinary. She’s currently living with stage three kidney disease and is once again battling motility failure. She relies on full-time TPN (total parenteral nutrition) and daily IV infusions to survive. Recently, Casey was hospitalized after developing a severe internal infection that spread throughout her body and compromised her central line. On top of that, she’s also dealing with a viral infection affecting her transplanted small bowel. Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic are working closely with her to stabilize her condition. She will require surgery, but that can't happen until this infection is fully cleared — it’s simply too dangerous right now. Despite all this, Casey is doing what she’s always done — showing incredible courage. She’s living on her own, supported by friends and a strong spirit, pushing forward with grace and grit even in the face of constant challenges. Her goal right now is to stay strong and delay dialysis for as long as possible. Because of her health, Casey has been out of work — something incredibly hard for someone whose life has always been about showing up for others. The strain of ongoing treatment, travel, and living expenses is growing. Although I’ve only known Casey for three weeks, she has already changed my life. Her strength through pain, her kindness in the face of hardship, and her unwavering spirit have left a permanent mark on me. She is a walking example of resilience and grace. Watching her push forward without complaint is nothing short of inspiring. We’re asking for your help. Every single cent donated will go directly to Casey — no fees, no middlemen, just support where it’s needed most. If you’d like to do more than donate, stop by the Mount Airy laundromat. We have a space where you can write Casey a letter or card to lift her spirits. There’s also a donation jar set up — and a little bit of encouragement goes a long way. Casey has always been there for us. Now, let’s be there for her.
