On Friday, January 10th, Casey Trees terminated the employment of John Boland and Caitlin Gilmore, two of our dedicated staff and union members.
The whole Casey Trees and IAM family has been deeply saddened and surprised by the decision.
Caitlin and John played an integral role in furthering Casey Trees' mission to restore, enhance, and protect the tree canopy of the DMV. They loved their jobs, tirelessly working to fulfill Casey Trees' goals and promote environmental stewardship. Caitlin and John were also both vocal advocates of Casey Trees employees organizing to join the IAM union. They recognized the intrinsic merits of the labor movement and the improvements it brings to all workers.
We strongly oppose the termination of any hardworking employees in good standing. As Caitlin and John embark on the next chapter of their careers, we would love your support in helping them bridge the gap in employment. We are certain that if roles were reversed, they would gladly do the same for others in need.
