For years, Brixton Plaza has been home to a vibrant community of independent businesses — food vendors, barbers, retailers, and creatives who reflect the heart and culture of Brixton. Today, that community is under threat.

Around 27 long-standing traders have been told to leave with little notice to make way for redevelopment. Many have invested their life savings into their businesses. For them, this isn’t just about losing a shop — it’s about losing livelihoods, heritage, and a vital part of Brixton’s identity.

Thanks to urgent legal action, the traders have secured a temporary court injunction preventing immediate eviction. But the fight is far from over.
