The pain of families in Gaza is indescribable, and Bachar’s family is no exception.

Bachar is the courageous father of a family with eight children. Along with their mother, they struggle every day to survive in an environment where war leaves no respite. Since the beginning of the conflict, Bachar and his family have been forced to flee their home five times. Their once stable life in Rafah was abruptly disrupted by relentless bombings. Now, they find themselves living in a tent in Mawasi Khan Yunis, far from what they once called home.

Among his children, Bissane, 12 years old, is particularly vulnerable. She suffers from partial paralysis, muscular atrophy, and acromegaly, a rare condition that deforms her body and makes her already difficult life even more challenging. Bissane’s daily life is a constant struggle, with her family trying to provide the care she desperately needs despite the chaos and frequent displacements that make each day more exhausting.

Bachar’s situation is further complicated by his mother’s grave illness. Living with them, she battles cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. Each day is a fight for her, and in a region where medical infrastructure is devastated, accessing the necessary care is nearly impossible. With a heavy heart, Bachar does everything he can to protect and support his family, but the war makes each effort more difficult.

Under a sky constantly darkened by the sounds of explosions, Bachar tries to keep his family together, to stay strong for his children and wife, despite the fear and uncertainty that eat away at them. The walls of their home tremble with each new strike, and the frequent displacements have drained their physical and emotional strength. How can he find the strength to reassure his children when he himself is overwhelmed by anxiety and fatigue?

The streets, once filled with life, are now deserted, scarred by the rubble. Families who have lost their homes seek refuge wherever they can, but the warmth of a home is no longer a reality for them. Bachar watches with pain and helplessness as his mother and daughter suffer, knowing that there is no safe place, no real help within reach.

Every day is a struggle for survival. For Bachar and his family, safety is a concept that no longer exists, and the future is an empty, uncertain landscape. Yet, despite the immense pain and the trials they have endured, they continue to hold on to hope, hope that one day peace will return, that their suffering will end, and that his children will grow up without knowing the terror that haunts them today.
