Justice for Ava and Vicki – A Mother’s Fight to Protect Her Daughter
Vicki and her daughter Ava are survivors of domestic violence. Vicki is a devoted mom who has raised Ava as her sole and primary parent since birth. She has no criminal record, no history of drug or alcohol issues, and has even worked as a visitation supervisor through CPS. Despite this, she was forced to undergo multiple court-ordered evaluations, all of which described her as a “conventional and protective mother.”
Yet today, Vicki is facing the hardest fight of her life.
What Happened
Through recent court decisions in North Idaho, Vicki and Ava have been subjected to severe hardships that threaten their safety and well-being. Among them:
- Vicki’s constitutional rights were violated when she was threatened with six months of incarceration for contempt while protecting her daughter — without being given the right to an attorney.
- Most heartbreaking of all, Ava expressed fear of her father and disclosed abuse to her therapist and CPS. Despite this, her cries were ignored, and she was placed with the person she identified as her abuser.
- Retaliation against Vicki intensified after she testified before the Idaho legislature about her experiences with Judge Peterson.
- Vicki and Ava have been unjustly restricted from traveling to visit their supportive family and friends in Vancouver, Canada, leaving them isolated.
- She has been forced to commute two hours daily to get Ava to kindergarten — despite a school being minutes from their home — making gainful employment impossible. When she cannot meet these impossible demands, she is threatened with losing custody.
- Despite already being deemed a safe and fit mother, she has been ordered to undergo four additional, costly court services — after years of previous evaluations — creating financial strain designed to break her down.
- She faces the ongoing threat of losing her parental rights entirely if she cannot comply.
- Another judge previously found enough evidence of abuse to grant a Protection Order for Ava, which Judge Peterson chose not to honor.
About the Judge
These rulings come from Judge Clark A. Peterson, who has been the subject of multiple public disciplinary actions and is now the focus of a community campaign calling for his removal from the Idaho bench. The campaign cites “controversial conduct” and highlights how his rulings have affected families.

This context shows that Vicki’s case is not isolated — many others in the community have raised similar concerns.
Why Support is Urgent
Vicki’s only option now is to appeal to the Idaho Supreme Court. This is her chance to protect Ava, challenge the unfair treatment they have endured, and fight for their future together. But she cannot do this alone.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward legal fees to ensure Ava’s safety and give this family a voice.
