I am Demetress Hodnett, along with my daughter Ashlin, and this is our story:
To our Family, Friends, Community, and sympathetic and compassionate readers of this event:
I am reaching out to you heartbroken and in need of help. My loving Son, Kiian Hodnett lost his life on March 21st, as a result of injuries sustained from a gunshot. Additionally, his twin brother has been arrested. I know in my heart that he loved his brother deeply. I am now facing what feels like an unimaginable nightmare. I've lost one child through this tragedy and I'm fighting with every breath not to lose the other one.
I have created this GoFundMe campaign in hopes of gaining your support during this crucial time. Your contributions will go directly towards repaying the debt incurred from the loss of my son and the mounting legal expenses to properly represent his brother.
I've been an employee of the same Georgia Health Care System for 20 years now. I am very devoted and dedicated to doing my job well and with a passion for my patients' needs and helping them feel better, no matter what is going on in my life. However, I have found it necessary to take a leave of absence until I can better focus and function, and while I continue to mourn.
Each donation regardless of the amount will make a significant impact on my ability to support our Family through this traumatic ordeal. Your empathy and generosity will help us move forward with more hope and stability.
Please support the Hodnett "Twins" Family Following Our Loss.
I encourage you to share our story and thank you in advance for any donations, with our sincere appreciation, we thank you in advance, the Hodnett "Twins" Family.
Demetress "Mom"
I never imagined I would lose both of my brothers—especially not at the same time. The pain is unbearable. Every day feels like a nightmare I can’t wake up from. I’m terrified. I’m angry. I’m broken. My head throbs with grief, and my heart feels like it’s been shattered into pieces. This isn’t fair—none of this is fair. They weren’t just my brothers—they were best friends, inseparable since we were kids. Always protected one another including me. After my dad passed, they stepped in without hesitation, becoming the father figures I needed.
I always imagine they'll be here to see baby sister graduate. I always imagine them both walking me down the isle as i get married. Now they won’t be there to cheer me on or walk beside me through life’s biggest moments. That emptiness is something I can’t put into words. It hurts in a way I didn’t know was possible.
They both had the kindest hearts—while juggling college, they both got jobs just to make sure I had what I needed - so our mom wouldn’t have to carry everything alone. They carried so much for me. They were my safety, my strength. And now, I don’t know how I’ll go on without their guidance, without their love, without their presence. I feel so lost without them.
Sincerely,
Ashlin "Baby Sister"
