Anna has spent much of her life showing up for others, but right now Anna is in the hospital and she needs our help. Will you join her circle of support?

Every donation to this campaign contributes to Anna’s healing journey, helping her land on her feet, get her bearings and build the resilience needed for what comes next. Your donation directly contributes to her healing.

For context, and with her permission, I think it’s important to share a few things with you about Anna. Anna is a woman, a trans individual, a passionate advocate, and a survivor of complex trauma and violent crime.

Despite these challenges, in her 33 years, Anna found grounding and purpose in ranching, rodeo, fashion, art, culture and public service. She built family wherever she went, worked tirelessly to foster belonging, and stood up (again and again) for trans and gender-diverse young people. She’s often done this work quietly and at her own expense, because she believes deeply in a more just and compassionate world.

In recent years, that same public commitment made Anna a frequent target of online harassment and transphobic hate. Like many trans people (especially those with a visible public profile) she carried far more than any one person should have to carry alone.

This past year compounded those pressures, and Anna has received literally thousands of messages with some of the most vile targeted transphobic hate you could imagine.

On top of this, Anna has experienced significant personal losses, including her grandma and nana passing away. Grandma and Nana were Anna’s most significant sources of love and encouragement, leaving a significant gap in her support system.

Add that Anna's work in political circles runs in seasons and campaigns, and despite persistent efforts in the current down season, Anna has been unable to secure stable employment. As a result, financial stress mounted, and the emotional toll of grief, exhaustion, and prolonged PTSD began to overwhelm her already-strained nervous system.

All of these factors convalesced in Anna experiencing an acute mental health crisis and we almost lost her. She is alive today because people who love her acted quickly, and she is now surrounded by a circle of care and support. Anna’s medical condition has stabilized, but she has an extended stay within our hospital system while many of the same stressors that led to her crisis wait for her return.

In order for Anna to get the most of her current and ongoing care, she needs all of our help. She needs time, stability and the chance to recover without the immediate threat of housing loss or financial collapse without a job to return to. She needs to know she’s not alone.

This fundraiser is intended to cover:

• Rent and utilities

• Groceries and basic living expenses

• Essential costs during recovery

• Time to heal and thoughtfully consider next steps, including education or retraining, without being pushed into survival mode

If you know Anna, you already know how deeply she has impacted others; you’ve also seen some of the online hate she’s had to endure. And if you don’t know Anna, I’m betting you do know that trans and non-binary people deserve lives free from relentless harassment, fear, and nervous systems worn thin by constantly living in fight-or-flight. Anna deserves the same safety, dignity, and hope she has worked so hard to create for others.
