Please help us support our wrongfully terminated Guild brother, Don Drewett, who is the primary caregiver for a family of four including himself.
From Don:
A Union member since 1991.
I served as National Legislative Coordinator for the Council of Prison Locals 33 where I performed all messaging for roughly 35k Federal Officers. I had extensive relationships with Senators and Members of Congress.
After retiring, I hired on as an AFGE 6 month Term National Organizer then two one year term positions. Subsequently, I was then selected as a Legislative and Political Organizer for District 3: PA and DE
I was let go by AFGE in June 2025 along with over 200 staff as a result of the Trump Executive Order eliminating Unions as the exclusive representative of Federal Employees. I was selected by the AFL-CIO as a one year temporary field specialist in July 2025. I was selected as SFR December 15, 2025 through the open and competitive selection process.
My Mother passed away on May 8, 2024 from stage 4 Cancer within a month of her diagnosis.
I lost my job at AFGE roughly one year later.
I am the primary caregiver for my father with an extensive medical history. We placed him in an assisted facility for his care by December 2024 due to his decline. I financially support not only my father but my Daughter who is raising my 2 year old granddaughter as the father is not.
I am a committed Son, Father, and Grandpa who’s doing all of this by myself and out of Love.
The way I have been treated is a direct contradiction of the AFL-CIO constitution and mission. This action tells me that NOT living your values as a supervisor is allowed.
The way I carry myself within our Labor Movement has always been about doing for others as I would want done for myself.
I am humbled and honored by all of your solidarity.
