Stand by Pastor & Barbara in Crisis

Donation protected
On Friday, August 8th, our lives changed forever. My uncle, Pastor Thompson, set out on what was supposed to be a normal trip. None of us could have imagined the chain of events that would follow.

That day, he was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident that left him with life-threatening injuries. The impact was so severe that 11 of his ribs were broken, his collarbone shattered, and his spine fractured. His arms and legs were covered in deep bruises, his hands were badly mangled with deep, painful cuts, and his entire body endured trauma that no one should ever have to face.

Since the accident, he has been hospitalized—fighting for his life every single day. The pain has been relentless, but this nightmare took an even darker turn.

While his wife, Barbara Thompson, who has been faithfully by his side and had not been home since the Friday of the accident, was on her way home to change, she received a devastating phone call from the hospital: Pastor Thompson’s breathing had stopped. He could no longer breathe on his own.

Doctors rushed him into emergency surgery. During this operation, they discovered his stomach was dangerously bloated, forcing them to perform a colonoscopy and make a difficult medical decision involving his gastrointestinal tract. The road to recovery will be long, complex, and life-altering in ways none of us ever expected—but we believe he will make it home again.

Right now, Pastor Thompson is heavily sedated, under powerful medications. Barbara will have to break the heartbreaking news to him when he’s alert enough to comprehend everything—a burden no wife should ever have to bear.

WHO HE IS
For decades, Pastor Thompson has been more than just a man of faith—he’s been a rock for his community. He has dedicated his life to pastoring and guiding others through their own storms. As the First Lady of their church, Barbara has stood beside him for over 35 years of marriage, serving and loving others.

For over 30 years, Pastor Thompson has also been a hardworking truck driver, providing for his family through long hours on the road. But now, the man who has worked tirelessly his entire life cannot work at all—and neither can Barbara, as she refuses to leave his side.

AND THEN… COVID STRUCK
If things weren’t already overwhelming enough, Barbara—while caring for him in the hospital—tested positive for COVID-19. She is now battling illness herself, on top of the stress, fear, and exhaustion of watching her husband fight for his life.

WHY WE’RE ASKING FOR HELP
This tragedy has placed an unimaginable financial strain on their family. With both unable to work, the hospital bills are already stacking up—on top of household expenses, travel costs to and from the hospital, and the specialized medical care Pastor Thompson will need after discharge.

We are reaching out to the community, friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers to please consider donating. Your support will go directly to:

Medical bills and post-surgery care

Specialized medical needs for his recovery

Household expenses during their time away from work

Transportation costs to and from the hospital

Helping them stay afloat while Pastor Thompson heals
