Stand by Molly: Overcoming Loss and Illness
Donation protected
On June 6, one of my best friends in the world, Scott Turner, died suddenly of a massive heart attack.
We had been friends for over a half century. He was the kind of friend who would give you his last dollar.
For the past 25 years, he was married to his soulmate, Molly. They never had children, but their story was a true love story.
Unfortunately, Scott's sudden death has been both emotionally and financially devastating for Molly.
As Molly mourns the love of her life, she has to deal with some real financial challenges, in addition to a long list of health issues.
She's 65 years old and had one leg amputated due to complications from diabetes.
About a decade ago, she had a dual pancreas/kidney transplant, and the transplanted kidney is now failing. She has to take an Uber three times a week for dialysis.
And if that wasn't enough, she also has congestive heart failure.
Scott was like a brother to me, and I consider Molly my sister.
All I want to do is help her out. I never want to lose the ability to care and to be concerned about another human being.
We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's too easy to say it's not my friend, not my community, not my problem.
But then there are those who see a need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.
I hope you will join me and be Molly Turner's hero.
Thanks.
