Help Amanda & Josh during his Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Back in September of 2024, Josh was diagnosed with pericarditis, which is a swelling and irritation of the thin, sac-like membrane surrounding the heart. He went through months of pain and tried different medications to find something to put him at ease. Josh had many scans and doctor appointments, and we thought we had found the solution until March when he started having complications. He went to the doctor, who advised him to go to the hospital for a CT scan , and they admitted him for a week. That's when they discovered he had angiosarcoma , a very rare, aggressive, and fast-spreading cancer in his heart that measured about 7 cm . They also found nodules in his liver and lungs due to the cancer spreading so rapidly, whereas three months ago, none of his scans showed any of this. The only way to get rid of this was to perform open-heart surgery, which they deemed very risky and only gave a 25% chance of working; without it , they couldn't even promise him four weeks to live. All this while Amanda is currently 36 weeks pregnant with their first child. On March 11th, they performed open-heart surgery, and once they got into his heart, not only did they find the 7 cm nodule, but they also discovered a golf ball-sized one and two smaller ones, all of which were successfully removed.
So far, he's had two days of successful surgery, but the journey has only just begun. As of March 14th Josh is still on a ventilator and under heavy sedation.
Josh will start chemotherapy once he is awake and will likely not be discharged in time for their daughter Salems birth in just three short weeks. Anyone who knows Josh knows he's always the center of attention and usually the loudest in the room but, cares so deeply about his friends, family, and job. This week has shown his family how truly loved he is and how many lives he's touched. We thank everyone who has reached out or prayed for us , and we do not take it for granted. Any donation is greatly appreciated, but if you can't donate, all we ask for is prayers, prayers, and more prayers to help the Stephens family through this very difficult time. "We're going to do something cool with the power of prayer." -Josh Stephens
