Help Jake Heal
Hi, I’m Bobbi, and I’m raising funds for my cousin Jake — a kind, humble, and deeply loved 41-year-old who is now in the fight of his life with cancer of the tongue, neck and lymph nodes.
Jake recently underwent major surgery in Victoria and is now beginning a long and difficult journey: learning how to breathe, swallow, eat, and speak again. Only after recovering from that surgery can he begin radiation treatments, which are located in Victoria, two hours from his home in Nanaimo.
He’s doing all of this away from his family, who are in Alberta, with no nearby caregivers and little day-to-day support. The timing couldn’t be more difficult — Victoria’s summer season has sent accommodation and travel costs soaring, and unfortunately, the Canadian Cancer Society cannot subsidize out-of-province support, making it incredibly hard for family, who he needs, to be by his side.
Jake has always faced life’s challenges with quiet strength. He would never ask for help himself — but right now, he really needs us.
This fundraiser will help provide:
* The essential care and support he needs post-surgery
* Transportation and housing during his radiation treatment
* Support with basic living expenses & travel for Jake & family during his recovery
We want Jake to know he’s not alone. That we’re with him — every step of the way.
Please consider donating or sharing this page. Your support means more than words can say.
With love and gratitude,
Bobbi “Jake’s cousin” and family
