My brother met his neighbor, Harriett, because they both have taken daily walks around their apartment complex in Nashville, TN for many years. I met Harriett and was charmed by her warmth and her sweet, gentle personality. My brother noticed that lately Harriett’s routines had changed, and he became concerned. She was no longer driving to church on Sundays, and the lights were not on in her window at night. My brother found out from another neighbor that Harriett is having trouble keeping up with the rising cost of living and is in peril of losing her car, utilities, and her apartment. Her car needs repairs, which she cannot pay for. She is limiting her usage of lights and heat/air in her apartment in order to conserve energy and try to keep the power on. Harriett is not able to work and relies on Social Security for her expenses. She is having difficulty paying for groceries and medications as well. She has no family. She also recently had heart surgery, which has left her weaker physically.

We would like to use whatever funds are raised here to repair her vehicle and update her registration. Additional money will be set aside for emergency needs.
