Stand by Daniel's Family in This Hard Time
Donation protected
On March 10th Daniel was admitted to the hospital. Experiencing shortness of breath, abdominal pain and hardly able to move. Daniel was incredibly sick and ultimately hours from death.
Upon admittance to the hospital, his oxygen levels hovered around 65% (to sustain life they are typically about 95%). He underwent emergency surgery to patch a perforated intestine that was likely contributing to severe edema. We later learned he also was suffering from sepsis, a collapsed lung, and pneumonia which led to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
As of March 23, 2025, Daniel remains in ICU sedated on life support, 100% supported by ventilator and has been on dialysis since March 15th, continuously pumped with antibiotics and several other medications and nutrients to sustain life and assist him in his healing and recovery. And he’s not out of the woods yet.
Meanwhile, his family of now three (Scarlett Marie was born Feb 18th ) and amazing wife continue to cheer him on while juggling ALL the things. As one can only imagine, Amber’s capacity to take on anything more is maxed, as she maintains the responsibilities of having a home, 3 kids, pets, her own self-care, and supports Dan by visiting daily. She is beginning to navigate disability for Dan, medical insurance, and long-term care. The reality of the duration of Dan’s recovery and rehabilitation is beginning to sink in and it is in fact daunting. Yet, if anyone can do it – it’s this family!
We are incredibly grateful for any contributions you can make to help support Amber and Dan not only in the daily needs of sustaining a family of 5, but that of the forthcoming medical bills and Daniel’s recovery.
