Bear, bobcat, beaver, fox, skunk, otter, fisher, mink, deer, raccoon and birds galore have been observed below The Center. The area is beautiful and the wildlife is abundant! We want you and others to be able to experience it. We'd hoped to create paths along the creek since we opened six years ago. Unfortunately, the stairs down to the creek weren't safe.
We have received several bids for a 75 foot stairway to the creek over the years, but they have been too high to move forward (like $20,000). Just this spring, we got a bid for half of the last one, so we jumped at the opportunity! Luke Haas did a lot of work for us at our new home next door to The Center and we know he will build a wonderful stairway with several landing/deck areas. He's already bought the wood and will start construction in the next few weeks.
The stairs will be similar to the ones below (but much longer with two landings). Could you help us make this happen?
Since our purchase of the house next to The Center last year, we have started building trails on the 5 acres along Otter Creek. Stairs will make much of that accessible. We also now have a Wildlife School at The Center that's aimed at giving kids experiences in nature, so this is an investment in future generations as well. No contribution is too small to be a significant part of this expansion of possibilities at The Center.
Regardless of whether or not you can contribute to this effort, thank you for all the ways you've been involved at The Center. We cannot thank people like you enough for the team effort that has made it the special place it is! Thank you!
Sincerely,
Scott and Anita
