Stafford SPCA Dog Room Renovation
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Sam Hawkins, and I'm a Life Scout with Troop 845. I'm currently working towards my Eagle Rank, and I'd like to share my project with you.
For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I decided to take my love and passion for animals, and turn it in to something useful for the community. This desire to help my furry friends led me to the local SPCA, in Stafford, Virginia.
When I arrived at the SPCA, there were tons of projects available for me to take on. It was tough deciding which to take, but soon the project was clear.
I've always loved and had dogs, and inspired by my puppy Jax (pictured below) I decided to renovate two Dog Rooms for the SPCA.
While the rooms are functional now, they aren't exactly the coziest, or most finished homes for our fuzzy friends. The concrete floors are stained and dirty, the paint on the walls is old and dingy, and there are remnants of adhesive and other yucky stuff on the walls from when the building was once a nursing home. Check out some pictures below:
Room 1:

Room 2:

As you can see, these rooms need some work. As you've guessed, my project is that work. For my project, I'll be tiling the entire rooms with some beautiful Cotto Contempo Sunset Boulevard Tile.
I'll also be painting the walls a nice light blue to them up . To improve the quality of life for the dogs, and the shelter volunteers, I'll be using fully washable, glossy paint for any accidents that might occur from our more "excited" friends.
Then, I'll be decorating the room with some wonderful murals. Room 1 will be receiving awesome murals of Superhero Dogs to inspire the resident puppies, specifically paintings of Krypto the Superdog and Ace the Bat-hound (Pictures via IMDB and Toon Zone):

In Room 2, there'll be a painting of Snoopy zonked out on top of his dog house while Woodstock flies around in the distance through the clouds, something like this (Picture via Livingston Parish Library):

I know this will make the dogs living in the rooms so much happier. I wish this would be an easy process, but unfortunately between tile, grout, paint, tools, food for workers, and more, these projects tend to get quite pricey.
This is where I need your help, and even more important than that, these animals need your help! Hopefully they don't have to stay in the SPCA long before finding a loving family, but we all want to make sure their stay is as wonderful as it can be.
Please do anything you can to help these animals and this great organization by spreading this page like wildfire, as we need to renovate this rooms by July 5th, so we need to buy supplies very soon! Please, donate any amount you can! It all helps! These shelter residents thank you, and so do I!
